A lot of my childhood was spent with my grandfather, and during our travels around town we’d often find ourselves at a bank. He explained the FDIC to me at a young age, how each bank only insures a certain amount of money (a quarter million), and that’s why he needed all these bank accounts. He had banks all over town, and I didn’t mind going because I got a sucker with every visit, and he would usually pick up some kind of knick-knack that the bank was giving away. His home was filled with all kinds of bank goodies: Hibernia magnets, Whitney plastic coin purses, a kitchen drawer full of rubber jar openers emblazoned with the Dryades owl, even a toothbrush tube squeezer which I always envied. I recently realized that my grandfather did NOT have so much money that he needed multiple bank accounts; he just liked opening accounts for the free stuff.

I can’t wait ‘til I retire to do the same thing.

Last week I made explicit my wish that Saints games not be so heart-stopping as the victory over Miami was; once again, the universe has demonstrated that at best it is indifferent to my desires. Last night, Abs even got into the game, experiencing roughly the same palpitations during the final quarter that I did.

As happy as I am for the Saints to be 7-0, I’m happier to share some Bechet.

In fact, I typically get more irritated if a solution is proposed and I’m made to feel like I have to take action. ~~Sometimes~~ Most of the time, I just want to bitch. I know the solutions. It doesn’t make the situation any less irritating and when I’m irritated, I vent.

Something about my car makes it impervious to drive-through car washes. I have tried 3 now, one with disastrous results, and the other two just didn’t get the car clean. I paid $15 at H20 for a car wash last month, and when I got to work I noticed that the whole back panel near the license plate, was still dirty, as were the wheels. Yesterday, I paid $7 at Benny’s and the wheels came out clean, but there were still dead bugs on the hood, the back panel was dirty, and the windshield didn’t even come clean! (I killed a lovebug with my windshield wipers the other day, and I used all my washer fluid trying to clear his remains, with no success. The whole reason I went to the car wash was to get that off, because it’s driving me crazy, and it didn’t come off! My rotund stomach does not allow me to reach the center of the windshield with windex and a paper towel, so I am going to have to get Q to do it tonight. Unbelievable)!!

Anyway, so I am going to have to start washing the car myself, or paying an actual human to do it. Bummer!
